WHAT
Please join Smarter Water LA (Los Angeles Waterkeeper, Heal the Bay, Desal Response Group and Surfrider Foundation South Bay Chapter) for a Town Hall discussion on a smarter water future for the region that does not include the currently proposed ocean desalination plant in the South Bay.
Learn about Los Angeles' current water portfolio; the potential for greater water conservation, recycling and reuse in our region; and the deficiencies in West Basin's Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR), released last year, which sorely underrepresented the economic, climate, and environmental justice impacts of building an ocean desalination plant in the South Bay.
WHY
West Basin plans to vote on whether it will move forward with this project by the end of this year! This Town Hall is our last chance to discuss how we can come together to voice our concerns and prevent the plant's detrimental impact on our environment, our wallets and our communities.
